My setup is fairly simple. I have a 3 level house with thick walls and floors. WiFi is tricky. My modem is on the top floor connected directly via CAT6 to an AirPort Extreme (6th Gen). That AirPort is connected via CAT6 to an identical AirPort on the main floor. My Apple TV is in the basement, and connected via CAT6 to the top floor base station.
